:x close-combat build...

Post by CapriCorN on Fri Aug 21, 2009 2:15 am

Hi there,

it's time to put a new topic in this part of the forum Razz!
no I actually need to know some hints of you guys again...

I had many, MANY, characters before, brought a few of them to 50,
but others I didn't really try to bring them (fast leveling needs money Razz)

Is there a close-combat build you guys would advice me?
I ask for close-combat cause at this moment I am busy with bow and it gets me bored playing it Mad

Pure int or pure str?
doesn't matter for me really, as long as my character gets into the battle and doesn't wait at the sideline to kill...

Chinese or Euro?
Doesn't matter ( I suppose XD )

I hope you guys know what I ask in this topic

Thanks in advance, I wont make a poll in this, people could randomly choose an option

I always prefer a chinese Blader pure str, but its slooow leveling when you dont have sun weapons in higher lvls but you barely die when you have good gear in any situation
to euro chars i cant say sth cause i never played any euro char past lvl 35 in my 5years silkroad Razz:P

I think a good build would be 2h/Cleric. Untill you are lv 40 you can rule in PVP if you find someone at your lv ^^ I skill now my Rogue from Rogue/Bard to Rogue/Cleric. And with Over Healing and Glut Healing I can kill ppl with higher lv xD

I see Razz
@FireOrb, yea a blader is a slow lvler till it got it's combos, as I got thinking of it, isn't an nuker with chains more effective? I mean wouldn't it do more dmg?
Blader is definetly a good thought^^
@Tala, I see Razz but pvp doesn't concern me in the early levels at all since I will be following penon taxis till I get over 45 so it won't be any help Razz
Cleric rocks, its true, but needing to buy speedpots is a pain in the ass XD

please feel free (others to) to post stuff around Smile

I suppose you mean at group-PKing? Well, I would recommend a pure str. character for "close-combat". Simply because it can tank. Don't get me wrong that pure int. characters can't tank, but they are too dependent on Snow Shield. I don't see any good "close-combat" European builds for you, since you dislike buying speed potions all the time hehe.

-Pure strength/Heavy str. hybrid (90% orso) blader:

  • Bicheon 100/Fire 100/Light 80/Cold 20. (I recommend this one, Snow Shield really helps)
  • Bicheon 100/Fire 100/Cold 100. (Best tanker EVER! Though, loses mobility, therefore you need a lot of money to buy speed potions Crying or Very sad)

-Pure strength glaive

Too lazy to write the masteries down. Levels faster than a blader, though lacks defense. The thing I liked about glaive was the switching to shield after Ghost Spear. Very Happy Yeah, I'm pretty weird to like that, but it atleast takes some "skill" to do that! What really sucks about glaive is that it eats a lot of MP potions!

Conclusion: if you don't mind leveling a bit slower and farm more SP, choose blader. (Though the chains later on makes up for the slow leveling I guess) If you like some higher damage, but also a higher damage to you, choose glaive. (No awesome chains, unlike the blader Crying or Very sad)

Hope this helps, and I'm confused now about what I just wrote.

Haha^^

well in any case, Zu, I understood what you just wrote Razz
If I pick blader, I think I will follow plvl till the 4th and 5th chain (lvl 51),
with a high gap, so I won't have to many problems due to slow leveling in the beginning as for the SP that is required.

I also prefer chinese builds, but wanted to know if there really was a good build for this, so thank you Razz

Also I have been thinking of the Blader build, but it all seems so hard to look Razz the speed pots cost some, but when i reach higher lvl (after plvl) I suppose a blader can pretty much regain money good, cause in any case it doesn't need to many pots, but that won't be the problem I guess.

Lower damage can be a little bit pimped out Razz (not completely I know Very Happy), But also I don't know if it is good or not, but I saw some ice bladers and fire bladers, but which is best in PvM?

perhaps it's a bad question, but it can be done in so many ways Very Happy

Thanks for the help Cool

Nice that you want a blader build! Very Happy

If you go Bicheon 100/Fire 100/Cold 100, your imbue MUST be ICE. I hear many people say: "OMG noob, fire gives much higher damage and the burn effect makes it deal way more than ice!"

WRONG!
Why choose Ice over Fire?

-The difference in damage between fire and ice is negligible for pure str. characters.
-Ice has better effects than fire. Ice gives freeze and/or frostbite to the opponent, which makes it very useful in PvE. And with the chains...the monsters won't make a single chance! Fire only gives the burn effect which doesn't do much damage.
-People without ice immunity are screwed. You can annoy the hell out of people by freezing them Razz

So, I would definitely be an ice blader! Simply because it has more pro's than fire and in my opinion, it looks better than fire in the high levels. Very Happy

Hope this was some useful informations.

Zu when you reach lvl 90+ the fire imbue does even with a pure str build more dmg than the ice imbue, and its not negigible anymore
but i wont think that skillex will come so far Very Happy

for a good blader with decent skills you need around 1-1,5mio SP to be lvl 100 FF, i know it cause i farmed one at ongs

and the lvling is fine but i have 8d and 9d sun weapons which makes it easier Wink

Oh, I thought the higher the players level, the less damage pure str. leech from their imbue.

Fire0rb, could you maybe post your damage with your latest fire imbue book and the first fire imbue book? (Preferably with the Hidden Blade Series)

I'm kinda curious what the result will be. Very Happy

I played a blader to level 90 ;-) She has 90 skills in Bicheon, Force and Fire, though Fire only to 70 to allow for a bit Lightning (speed XD)... But omg I played this build for almost 4 years, and I still love it.

Why Force? Force got better every update since Europe was added, just like Bicheon ;-)))) Being able to do almost all debuffs is a MAYOR adavantage. Now many people will say; A blader already do almost all the debuffs! But without the warlocks Disease you will almost 90% of the time meet 'Resist' from the monsters of your own level. Having the debuffs 2x will make this annoying thing something less numerous. I noticed that 2x debuff almost 90% of the time succeeds. Force also gives you a chase to remove debuffs from yourself and your party members Smile Ressing other people is very nice (certainly now in B5 and 6 ^^) and with a STR char you will almost always be the savior when the cleric dies Razz certainly the blader who almost always will be the last to die ;-)

But its no PvP build! Unless you go full, FULL STR you will almost never kill in PvP, but same goes for dieing ;-) PvE is the simplest ever, even in party mode Very Happy But the biggest advantage is in Fortress wars and trades. I spent entire Fortress Wars ressing people of friendly guilds and unions and having a lot of fun in the way ^^

Force blader FTW !! ^^

Erinna I have been told that by lots of people =P I make a crap load of bladers and from what i have seen Force blader is a good mix but like you said Pure Str if you do any side builds it will prob kill you do to the int needs a good imbue and after 100 you can no long have 3 trees at level 100 (you can but your better off picking just 2) So eventually sadly enough Force bladers will prob no longer be used i liked having them a round they always helped with party killing but after 100 a force blader will mostly be someone for debuffing enemies and ressing others but hey that still helps in the end right? The debuffs after 100 will be really good lets hope.

I've made so many messed up builds its not funny some of them work some of them crash and burn right now i am making a char in Golden Age (Csro) its a blader its not pure its not a pure str hybrid its.... just its own build that no one else would ever try to make or understand how i made it =D I don't know if its going to work or not if it doesn't its as simple as making a 2nd account making a new char and using your first char to pwr level the other 1 up to a higher level

After level 100 only 2 skill trees? Hell no, a force blader could easily do something like: Bicheon 110/Force 110/Fire 80. The Snow Shield helps a lot, but isn't really necessary for a pure STR.

It's better to say: "after level 110 a problem arises for force bladers Very Happy."
Since the magical defence buff drops from +126 (fire lvl 79) to +39 (fire lvl 59). But I think Joymax will add some kind of magical defence potion.

Not wanting to hurry stuff but what is best?
hybrid-str blader
or a full str blader?
now im lvl 23 Full str, but adjusting points is not a problem,
you think i need to make poll or is there a possible difference that changes minds (eventually mine)?

i like force a lot! but I am not sure i wanna give mobility for it.. debuffs over speed... hmm?

thanks for the posts,
no other builds are required, only about Bladers, as I am having one now

Btw Zu i didn't mean only 2 you just took it the wrong way i mean after a while there will only be 2 skills trees (Most likely) for Chinese chars. meaning the level cap highest level will prob be 150 Sure they can do 110 Blade 110 Force and 80 Fire but that makes for a weaker imbue which actully could hurt you can be told imbue doesn't matter for str well when it adds 912~1520 compared to 484 ~ 806 that is actually a good amount of damage + for defense fire buff (Magic defense) from 277 to 126 is also a nice drop Force bladers will not be as good after 100 .... But either way ya i guess after 100 a problem arises for force bladers is better to say =P

Snow shield is helpful and can make for a great tank but if your pure str it will eat your mp alive

Thanks for the lvl 110+ info but I don't have any use for this Razz
i wont reach 110+...
reaching 100 is the final thing i would ever want...
and when i would ever reach 100 i wouldn't have any more time for the game i think Smile

lvl 23 => 100 takes time if u ask me (eventually with good sp and stuff)
if i would take force blader which masteries do you advice? + full str or hybrid.

thanks guys

I'm not completely sure...
if i want speed and force, i cant make a decent build i guess?
( light + force + bich )
altough blade needs the extra phy damage it can get... Surprised
someone knows what the most damage dealing blader is? (in PvM)

most dmg dealer for blade will be with fire imbue and fire buffs cause you get an extra 18% with passive when i remember right
force is imo only good if you got some giants or bossmobs or in pvp cause you wont debuff a normal mob

why don't you try dual weapon build since your goal is lv100.

try heuksal/bicheon/fire. its really a close combat build. and its fun to play once u master the weapon switch.

2 force masteries 1 weapon is the thing i want^^
weapon masteries take a lot of sp,
more than mobility or debuff masteries...

i want one of those 2 but can't find any advantages that surpass the other

Well, all three armors are good. For a pure STR character I recommend garment since it increases your mobility and decreases your mp usage by 20%. If you find a good protector set, it will also do fine. Wink

if you go with Force, go Pure 100% STR, if you go with Fire for second mastery a little bit hybrid might work for you, but still I guess you need every % phy balance to kill with a blader in PvP. The only times I was able to really win is with some lucky crit at the right time.

As for debuffs, they are totaly useless (when playing a Blader, not a warlock Razz) in soloplay, but with the high level monsters in party play, yes I'd debuff the party mobs, also the normal ones. But to me the biggest advantage is taking damage like MAD with the blader and still ress my fallen comrades! Pure STR is best with Force ;-))
